Landscape painting is one of the more popular and enjoyable pursuits of many artists. I am no exception to the pursuit of this challenge. I am particularly intrigued by the patterns that nature provides us. -
Maritime Impressions (23)
Boats, water, all things maritime evoke memories of youth, and impressions that excite me as an artist. As an oil painter, the colors, shapes and compositions of the marine environment make for challenging subjects. Certainly living in Port Townsend, Washington on Puget Sound is a major influence on my work. Come and visit you’ll see what I mean. -
Still Life Studies (13)
A nineteenth century painter, Edouard Manet, once expressed the desire to become the Saint Francis of still life. A worthy challenge indeed! His love of still life painting is certainly understandable. The controls, when coupled with the associated problems make still life painting both a joy and a challenge. -
Portrait & Figure Work (5)
I believe painting portraits and the human figure are unsurpassed both in terms challenge and satisfaction for the artist. The latitude that an artist enjoys with most other subjects is much more limited in portraiture and figure work. The pursuit of this work is a lifelong endeavor for me.
